What is Excellence in HR?
Crain's Detroit Business annually recognizes outstanding Human Resources leaders and teams in Southeast Michigan.

What are the nomination categories?

  • HR Leader or Team of the Year: How did this individual or team positively impact business results? 
  • Innovations in HR: How has this individual or team crafted and implemented creative or unique ways to lower employee-related costs or significantly enhance employee engagement, efficiency and productivity? 
  • Improving employee wellbeing: Tell us how this individual or team made employees safer and/or improved their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Innovations in recruiting: What unique methods did this this individual or team use in the past two years to recruit new staff members? 
  • Fostering a culture of learning and upskilling: How has this individual or team helped employees grow professionally and personally? 

How do I nominate someone?
Visit our nomination page. If you do not have an account, you will be asked to create one before you can proceed with the nomination form. We recommend using Chrome or Firefox web browsers to complete your application. 

What's the deadline for nominations?
March 8, at 11:59 p.m. EST

Can I call you to make sure my nomination went through?
No need. The nomination platform will confirm receipt of a completed submission. Please resist the urge to make follow-up calls or send emails.

Can I fax or mail in my nomination?
No. Only submissions that come to us via the online form will be accepted.

Can I call you to pitch my candidate?
Judges will only consider candidates with submitted nomination forms. Pitching your candidate will not help them win.

When will honorees be notified?
Honorees will be notified approximately 5 weeks before publication day.

When does the story appear in print?
On CrainsDetroit.com on Oct. June 3, 2024, and in that day's print edition.
